UK CHESS CHALLENGE tournament

During the Summer Term, Fairlop are running a qualifier tournament for the UK CHESS CHALLENGE.

The tournament comprises 7 rounds with a set points target needed for players to progress. The qualifying students from Fairlop will play children from all over Essex in county zone matches and could progress to the National Championships.

The dates for the Essex zone matches have been provisionally set for:

SATURDAY 10th MAY 2008 - under 12- under 18's
SATURDAY 17th MAY 2008 - under 7- under 11's

In recent years, Fairlop has had some success in the Essex zone with many players progressing through to the National Championships and taking the runner-up position. Nilaa won the Essex Under 7 girls competition in 2006, following this up with another storming win in 2007 taking the Under 8 girls title!
